Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) offers a vibrant environment for learning, teaching and research in the heart of Glasgow city centre. GCU delivers career-focused programmes, world class research and award winning student support.
GCU has three schools, representing its core strengths and areas of academic excellence:
“GCU has an excellent track record and it’s not resting on its laurels. This is a university really going places.”
Lena Wilson, Chief Executive, Scottish Enterprise
Our academic schools offer a wide range of high quality programmes, professional training courses, research opportunities and consultancy services.
GCU offers guaranteed scholarships for all self-funding students to help with the cost of tuition fees.
International and EU student tuition fees
'Rest of UK' student tuition fees
Scottish students do not pay tuition fees, but have to apply each year through the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS).
GCU offers guaranteed scholarships for all self-funding students. Our scholarship options range from merit based scholarships to the Principal's Common Good Scholarship which covers tuition fees in full for talented students from low income backgrounds who are first in their families to go to university.
The Moffat Scholarship Awards, supported by the Moffat Charitable Trust, is the largest scholarship fund in the EU. The Moffat Scholarship benefits students wishing to pursue a career in the travel, tourism or events management industries.
GCU students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland also have access to scholarships for RUK students.
GCU has teaching and research partnerships with leading institutions around the world including in China, India, North and South America, Brazil, Rio De Janeiro, Oman, Bangladesh, New York and more. In addition, GCU is a member of the prestigious international Santander Universities Network. Each of these partnerships offers GCU students and staff opportunities to enrich their academic and cultural experience as well as share research and develop innovative joint programmes.
GCU provides high-quality, award-winning training and development partnerships to companies in the health, tourism and engineering fields and has been accepted to the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Management Education after demonstrating its commitment to placing social responsibility, ethics and sustainability at the forefront of its teaching.
The University has a long tradition of conducting research that is economically and socially relevant. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), more than three quarters of the research submitted by the University was judged to be of international quality. RAE ranked the GCU’s research in rehabilitative health sciences top in the UK and its research in the built environment in the top 20 in the UK.
These outstanding performances are backed by international research profiles, including world-class outputs, across a spectrum of subjects in education, history, public policy and media and communications, biomedical sciences, vision sciences and high voltage engineering.
As part of a drive to build on its strengths and meet the research challenges of the coming decades, GCU has invested in its award-winning graduate school and has additionally established cross-disciplinary research institutes focusing on applied health research and society and social justice research to bring together the research excellence of individuals and groups across the University.
Employers know they can recruit GCU graduates with confidence. That's why the overwhelming majority of our students find work or further study within six months of graduating.
At GCU we offer career-focused courses, practical work placements, and employability skills development. Our aim is to make you even more attractive to future employers.
Many of our courses are accredited by professional bodies, our teaching and learning facilities - including a virtual hospital and eye clinic - are some of the most innovative in the UK.
This close tie-in and evolving way of thinking ensures GCU candidates are equipped for industry.
GCU London’s programmes are underpinned by industry support from market leaders including Santander, Morgan Stanley, AllSaints, and Marks & Spencer.
